Your go-to place for the latest news and updates on diversity in tech and emerging technologies - wearables, health tech, and IoT.
Happy Monday everyone! 🙂
Last month, Women in VC released a new data report outlining the VC community’s positive progress on gender diversity, which found that in the last five years, the number of women-led funds has nearly quadrupled, and the 275 new VC funds started and led by women represent a massive economy-wide opportunity. These funds are poised to invest in 7,000 companies in the coming years, potentially creating more than 80,000 jobs.
However, there is still a long way to go to close the funding gap for women and address the vast inequality in how capital is deployed to the founders:
5.6% of all VC firms in the US are women-led, and only 2.1% of VC firms are founded by a woman of color;
4.9% of all VC partners in the US are women, and only 2.4% of all VC partners are Founding female partners;
73% of all women-led VC firms were founded in the last 5 years (since 2015).

Thank you for tuning in this Monday, happy reading! 💌
