Our '200 trailblazing leaders in women's health and femtech' 2022 list is here - check it out! 🏆
Biweekly newsletter about the latest news and updates on innovation and diversity in wearable tech, health tech, and femtech space.
Happy Monday, everyone! 🌞
As the year comes to an end, as well as our FemTech Untapped program, we wanted to celebrate and highlight all the trailblazing leaders in the Women’s Health and FemTech space who have been working hard in 2022 in improving the health and lives of so many with their innovative solutions and products.
Femtech and women’s health has come a long way since its early days in 2016 when Ida Tin coined the term ‘femtech’. And yet, as Rock Health reported, “despite the fact that women control 80% of healthcare decisions in the US and spend 29% more per capita on healthcare compared to men, the sector of digital health for women has only recently started to draw attention from venture capital investors. Only 3% of the 2,728 US digital health deals since 2011 have focused on women’s health.”
Despite the greater awareness around the need and importance of innovation in and for women’s health, there are still many areas that, undoubtedly, remain taboo with a massive data gap. For example, did you know that, to this day, women are diagnosed on average four years later than men across 770+ diseases? Or that women are still more likely to die from a heart attack or react poorly to prescription drugs, and are consistently having their pain dismissed by doctors because their bodies are still a medical mystery. A study showed that 90% of women with chronic pain, felt the healthcare system has a gender bias.
This is why we at Women of Wearables decided to compile a list of all the amazing innovators, investors, researchers, entrepreneurs, and advocates who have made their mark in this space in 2022, making it more accessible, inclusive, and ultimately visible. Below is the list of 200 trailblazing leaders in the industry, in alphabetical order.
Disclaimer: The list has been arranged in alphabetical order and not in rank. There are many more leaders who should be on this list and we’d like to encourage everyone to continue adding to it by posting in the comments. Also, in case you think we have missed someone or wish to suggest a correction, please drop us a line at hello@womenofwearables.com.
