DAME's co-founder awarded the 2020 Bold Woman Award by Veuve Clicquot; Fortune's 40 under 40; Femtech's sexual health revolution + more
Your go-to place for latest news and updates from the world of emerging technologies and diversity in tech.
Happy Monday everyone! 🙂
When Celia Pool, co-founder of DAME - a brand behind the world’s first reusable tampon applicator and organic cotton tampons, launched her startup three years ago, little did she know that a business will become one of the most innovative sustainable brands in the femcare space - an industry that hasn’t been disrupted for more than half a century. 📌
In the last two years, DAME has saved over three million plastic applicators going to landfill through sales of their reusable plastic tampon applicator. In 2019, the company was also the first brand in the UK to receive Carbon Neutral Plus Product certification from Carbon Footprint - the organization that verifies and certifies a company’s carbon status. By removing more greenhouse gases from the atmosphere than they emit, DAME has become the world’s first climate-positive period brand. ♻️
As a mum of three and a successful businesswoman, Celia has also been awarded the 2020 Bold Woman Award by Veuve Clicquot for her outstanding contributions to the sustainable development of female products. The Veuve Clicquot Bold Woman Awards have been running for 48 years and are the most prestigious of their kind. They honor women who demonstrate the same entrepreneurial qualities as Madame Clicquot, a woman whose tenacity and creativity led to her success in the male-dominated champagne industry. 🏆
Congrats, Celia! 🎉
